Children are essentially social beings who develop the social skills in the world and learn the cultural rules. The main goals of this subject are:
1. Acquiring knowledge of the immediate and expanding, physical and social surroundings.
2. Developing habits, behavior and manners appropriate to school.
3. Understanding the mutual relationship between people, their social and their physical environments.
4. Discussing and understanding questions about social issues and larger current events that arise daily.
5. Acquiring basic skills in understanding basic social events and developing problem solving skills for social and public events, such as: disagreements, insults, cooperation, working in groups, etc.
6. Developing tools for self expression, developing communication skills between children and between children and adults.
7. Developing tolerance for “the other” (peoples and cultures) and acquiring the values of respecting others, helping the weak and destitute.
8. Developing the involvement and caring for what happens in school and life in general.
9. Developing the child’s connection with “Am Yisrael” and its heritage.
